📜 1. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing or using Shimeji Pet, you agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
🐾 2. License & Personal Use
Shimeji Pet grants you a personal, non-commercial, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to enjoy animated desktop companions and custom status bar widgets on your Android device.
⚙️ 3. Floating Overlay Functionality
You acknowledge that Shimeji Pet draws interactive overlays over other applications using the Android SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW permission. You can pause, adjust or stop the overlays at any time in the app or from the notification shade.
🎮 4. Pets, XP and other virtual items
Pets, XP, levels, badges, Mystery Boxes, rewards and time-limited access are virtual items inside the app. They have no cash value, cannot be sold, transferred or exchanged for money, and remain licensed to you rather than owned. We may balance, change or remove them to keep the game fair. A pet you earn by finishing its mission stays unlocked for you, unless we must remove that pet (see section 9).
▶️ 5. Rewarded ads, the free trial and Mystery Boxes
- Rewarded ads are optional. Watching one to the end unlocks a pet for 30 days, or counts toward a Mystery Box. When the time ends, the pet locks again unless you earned it by finishing its mission.
- New installs get a free 3-day trial of every pet except Heroic pets. After the trial, pets you only tried lock again.
- Mystery Boxes are free. They cannot be bought. Each holds a random Bronze, Silver or Gold pet for 30 days, and the chances are shown on the box.
- The daily login board gives a small amount of XP each day and a Mystery Box for a full week.
- Pet slots limit how many pets can be on your screen at once. Two slots are free. A third opens for 30 days each time you watch three rewarded ads. A fourth opens with Shimeji Plus (see section 6), which also opens the third. Players who used more slots before this feature existed keep them for 30 days.
💳 6. Subscriptions
- Some pets are unlocked by a monthly subscription sold through Google Play. The price, billing period and renewal terms are shown to you before you subscribe, in your local currency and including any taxes.
- Renewal: a subscription renews automatically every month until you cancel it. Payment is charged to your Google Play account.
- Cancel any time in Google Play (Payments & subscriptions ➔ Subscriptions) or with the Manage subscription link in the app. You keep access until the end of the period you already paid for. We cannot cancel on your behalf.
- While a subscription is active, you can use that pet. When it ends, the pet locks again unless you also earned it by finishing its mission.
- Refunds are handled by Google Play under its own policies. Deleting or uninstalling the app does not cancel a subscription.
- If we change a price, Google Play will tell you and ask for your agreement where it requires that.
- Shimeji Plus is sold through Google Play with three plans. The yearly plan may start with a free trial and then renews automatically every year, and the monthly plan renews automatically every month, both until you cancel. The pay-as-you-go plan gives 30 days, does not renew, and can be bought again at any time to add 30 days. The price and terms of each plan are shown before you pay. While Plus is active you can use every Platinum and Diamond pet and open pet slots 3 and 4; Heroic pets are not included. When it ends, those pets and slots lock again; pets you earned by finishing their mission stay yours.
🏆 7. Limited-edition Heroic pets
- Only 5 people at a time can hold each Heroic pet by subscription, on a first-come, first-served basis. We do not guarantee a spot will be free.
- To subscribe you must sign in with Google. Your Google display name is shown publicly on that pet's page as an owner, and you must agree to this before paying.
- If your subscription ends, your spot is released and may be taken by someone else. Heroic pets can also be earned for free by playing.
🚫 8. Fair use
Do not cheat, tamper with the app, change your phone's clock to gain rewards, or reverse-engineer or copy the app. We may reset progress or access gained this way.
🛑 9. Removing a pet
If we must stop offering a pet (for example because a rights holder asks us to), we may remove it. If you subscribe to that pet, we will stop the subscription so you are not charged further, and you can ask Google Play about a refund for the current period.
🎨 10. Intellectual Property
The application software, source code and original graphics belong to Shimeji Pet. Community character assets made available through the OpenPets platform remain under their own open distribution licenses.
🛡️ 11. Disclaimer and limits of liability
Shimeji Pet is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for loss of virtual items. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under the law that cannot be limited.
🔄 12. Changes and ending
We may update these terms. The effective date above will change, and important changes will be announced in the app. You may stop using the app at any time. We may suspend access for breach of these terms.
⚖️ 13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea (South Korea), without affecting any mandatory consumer rights where you live.
